Softball Game Preview: Riverside Ram vs. Riverbend Bears

The Riverside Ram will square off against the Riverbend Bears at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Riverbend took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Riverside, who comes in off a win.

Riverside was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Broad Run on Thursday. Everything went Riverside's way against Broad Run as Riverside made off with a 14-3 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Ram needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Brooklyn Oliviero was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Gabby Cinnamon was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jaiden McCallum, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Riverside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Broad Run only posted a batting average of .176.

Meanwhile, Riverbend didn't have quite enough to beat Louisa County on Tuesday and fell 5-4. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost four in a row.

Isa Barber was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryleigh Livesay, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Riverbend's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Riverside, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
