Baseball Recap: Chewelah Makes It Three in a Row on the Road

Chewelah had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 21-run drubbing they dealt Kettle Falls on Saturday. The Cougars' pitchers stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 21-0 shutout. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Ryen McMillan made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). McMillan was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Bode Katzer was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Patrick McGuire, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Chewelah's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Kettle Falls, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Chewelah beat the Bulldogs by a score of 13-1 later that day.
