Basketball Recap: Crystal Lake South Comes Up Short

Crystal Lake South lost against Belvidere back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Crystal Lake South Gators took a 46-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Belvidere Bucs. The Gators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Belvidere's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emma Pierson, who went 9 of 19 en route to 20 points and three steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Pierson has scored at least a third of Belvidere's points. Another player making a difference was Arianna Labeau, who posted 14 points in addition to six boards and six steals.

Crystal Lake South's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Belvidere, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crystal Lake South will venture away from home to take on Cary-Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cary-Grove will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Crystal Lake South surely won't give up without a fight. As for Belvidere, they will head out to challenge Jefferson at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Belvidere is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.1 points per game this season.
