Basketball Game Preview: Baboquivari Warriors vs. Valley Lutheran Flames

Two dominant guards in Kara Baptisto and Natalia Hernandez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Baboquivari Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Valley Lutheran Flames at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Baboquivari will be strutting in after a victory while Valley Lutheran will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Friday, Baboquivari got the win against Hayden by a conclusive 50-25. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Valley Lutheran has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 29.88 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They were beaten by Fort Thomas 62-28. While losing is never fun, the Flames can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 197th, while the Apaches are ranked 38th).

Baboquivari is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.4 points. As for Valley Lutheran, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-6.

Baboquivari beat Valley Lutheran 54-46 in their previous meeting back in February of 2018. The rematch might be a little tougher for Baboquivari since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
