Baseball Game Preview: Silsbee Tigers vs. Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns

The Silsbee Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Silsbee's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so Hamshire-Fannett's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Silsbee saw some tournament action on Saturday. They came out on top against Flatonia by a score of 5-2.

Jalen Fobbs was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI. Jackson Perdue was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Hamshire-Fannett was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Kelly Catholic, falling 12-3.

Hamshire-Fannett saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Travis Thompson, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI. That RBI was Thompson's first of the season.

Hamshire-Fannett's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Silsbee, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.

Hamshire-Fannett's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Silsbee has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .457. It's a different story for Hamshire-Fannett, though, as they've only averaged .307. Will they be able to contain Silsbee's hitters?

Silsbee came up short against Hamshire-Fannett when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 8-4. Can Silsbee avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
