East Central suffers third straight loss at home

Recap: East Central Hornets vs. Wayne County War Eagles

The East Central Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. They lost to Wayne County at home by a decisive 67-51 margin. East Central has struggled against Wayne County recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

East Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cartavious Myers, who scored 18 points. Myers scored a full 35.3% of East Central's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Porter Martin, who scored 12 points.

East Central bumped their record down to 2-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Wayne County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-4.

East Central will head out on the road to face off against Laurel at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Laurel presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than East Central in Mississippi (Laurel is ranked 135th, while East Central is ranked 301st). As for Wayne County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Stone at 7:30 p.m. Stone has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 192 points over their last three games.
