Softball Recap: Amador Valley Sets Scoring Season-High Against Granada

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Amador Valley). Everything went their way against the Granada Matadors on Thursday as Amador Valley made off with a 15-6 win. With that victory, the Dons brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Kaylee Davis was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Lauren Tran was a standout: she scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Mai Falcone was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Amador Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Amador Valley's record now sits at 5-3. As for Granada, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Amador Valley is set to square off against their familiar foe Foothill at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Amador Valley 3.5, Foothill 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Granada will challenge rival Livermore at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
