The Dudley Panthers will head out to challenge the Atkins Camels at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dudley is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
Dudley lost 21-4 to High Point Central on Friday.
Trinedee Henderson was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing four bases while going 1-for-2. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Tiana Caldwell also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.
Meanwhile, Atkins got the win against Ben L. Smith on Friday by a conclusive 17-2. With that victory, the Camels brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.
Aniston Pennington made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.
In other batting news, Atkins let Emma Davis and Ava Fleming run wild. Davis scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Fleming scored two runs while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Nina Mathews, who scored three runs.
Atkins always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .724. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ben L. Smith only posted an OBP of .333.
The win made it two in a row for Atkins and bumps their season record up to 3-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Dudley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Dudley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .538. However, it's not like Atkins struggles in that department as they've averaged .483. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dudley might still be hurting after the 19-0 loss they got from Atkins in their previous meeting back in March. Can Dudley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
