Kara Kotenko spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ava Wagner made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Millington). The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won 13 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Lilly Damm was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Kamyrn Blackmer, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Millington has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Garber, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-14.

Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Garber hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .364. However, it's not like Millington struggles in that department as they've averaged .335. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Garber came up short against Millington in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 4-1. Can the Dukes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
