Baseball Recap: Miramonte Find Success

While Miramonte's victory against San Rafael wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Matadors won by a run and slipped past the Bulldogs 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Matadors in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

Casey Yung spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Miramonte's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Leo Wampler, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave Wampler a new career-high.

Miramonte's win bumped their record up to 3-10. As for San Rafael, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Miramonte will square off against Mt. Diablo at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for San Rafael, they will venture away from home to challenge Sonoma Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
