Volleyball Recap: Rudder Victorious

Rudder posted their closest win since August 22nd on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Ellison Eagles, sneaking past 3-2. For the Rangers, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2020.

Rudder had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 18-25, 14-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-8.

Among those leading the charge was Riley Wilson, who had eight aces and five digs. That's the most digs she has posted over her last seven matches.

Wilson wasn't the only good server: Rudder was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 16 aces. The Rangers are 5-1 when they serve at least ten aces.

Rudder's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-16. As for Ellison, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-21.

Coming up, Rudder will face off against Lake Belton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ellison, they will take on Copperas Cove at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
