Basketball Recap: Ovilla Christian Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

If Garland Christian Academy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Ovilla Christian, they should've done a better job of containing Sophie Henry. The Ovilla Christian Eagles came out on top against the Garland Christian Academy Swordsmen by a score of 49-38 on Tuesday thanks in part to Henry, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 23 rebounds. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Ovilla Christian's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Collette Gentry, who posted seven points in addition to six boards and six steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game.

Garland Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Andee Sandlin, who went 5 of 12 en route to 11 points and three steals. Sandlin has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ima Owat, who earned two points along with six steals and five rebounds.

Ovilla Christian is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Garland Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Ovilla Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 52-33 win against Prestonwood Christian North on the 10th. Garland Christian Academy has also already played their next game, a 57-11 victory against Cambridge on the 10th.
