Basketball Recap: Yeiry Zamudio and Alyssa Manuel Secure Win for Caney Creek

Caney Creek's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 48-36 win over the Cleveland Indians. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 47-26 back in December of 2024.

Leading Caney Creek to victory were Alyssa Manuel and Yeiry Zamudio. Manuel went 5 for 10 en route to 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, while Zamudio went 5 of 12 on her way to 11 points in addition to five boards and four steals. That's the most steals Zamudio has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Harrah, who posted five points.

Caney Creek's record now sits at 7-19. As for Cleveland, they are on a 55-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-28.

Caney Creek and Cleveland could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Caney Creek will square off against College Park at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 625 places (996 vs. 371). Meanwhile, Cleveland (ranked 1374th) will meet The Woodlands (ranked 283rd) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
