Baseball Recap: Covenant Classical Takes a Loss

The matchup between Covenant Classical and Fort Worth Country Day on Saturday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Cavaliers came up short against the Falcons, falling 19-13. The Cavaliers haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Covenant Classical got a good showing from Aaron Davis, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Luke Barker led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Rhodes Long was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

Covenant Classical now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Fort Worth Country Day, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Covenant Classical will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Abilene Christian at 4:30 p.m. on March 3. As for Fort Worth Country Day, they will take on Burton Adventist Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
