The Bucyrus Redmen will face off against the Crestview Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Bucyrus will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Bucyrus headed into their last contest having not scored more than two runs for six straight, but Mansfield Christian let them put that streak behind them. The Redmen came out on top against the Flames by a score of 10-5 on Monday. The Redmen's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Lincoln Blizzard was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). London Wade also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.
Meanwhile, Crestview got themselves on the board against Central Christian on Monday, but Central Christian never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Comets. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.
Drew Spoerr was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Crestview got a big performance out of Kayn Patton, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Patton has become a key player for the Cougars: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-13 otherwise. Landon Fulk was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Crestview pushed their record up to 11-13 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bucyrus, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-19.
