Basketball Recap: Arleta Extends Winning Streak to Three

Arleta had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They took down the Verdugo Hills Dons 78-63. The Mustangs pushed the score to 61-39 by the end of the third, a deficit the Dons cut but never quite recovered from.

When it comes to explaining why Verdugo Hills lost, don't look at William Gharabekyan. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 rebounds. Gharabekyan is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jeffrey Moran, who posted 17 points.

Arleta's victory bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Verdugo Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Poly the next time they take the court. Verdugo Hills will head out to face Poly at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Arleta will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
