Basketball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends Windham's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Windham unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Coventry Patriots by a score of 61-59. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Whippets have suffered since January 5, 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Windham lost, don't look at Malcolm Hunter. Despite the final result, he went 9 of 21 en route to 26 points and six boards. Hunter's evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Anden Gonzalez, who posted ten points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

Even though they lost, Windham smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Windham's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Coventry, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Windham will venture away from home to take on Waterford at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Coventry, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Windsor Locks at 6:45 p.m. on February 7th.
