Baseball Recap: Hilbert Takes a Loss

Hilbert lost against Shiocton last Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Wolves fell just short of the Chiefs by a score of 7-6.

Brody Hein was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Hein was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Peter Kesler was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Eli Eichmeier was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Hilbert's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2. As for Shiocton, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Hilbert has already played their next game, a 9-4 victory against Tri-County on the 11th. As for Shiocton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 2-1 defeat against Amherst on the 11th.
