Baseball Recap: La Jolla Snags Ninth Victory in Last 12 Games

With a playoff win on the line, La Jolla rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the Westview Wolverines. The Vikings have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wolverines, too.

La Jolla saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Strauss, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

La Jolla is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-12 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Westview, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 20-9.

Looking ahead, La Jolla will square off against Clairemont at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Chieftains will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight. Westview does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
