Basketball Recap: City University School of Liberal Arts Comes Up Short

City University School of Liberal Arts played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Memphis School of Excellence Winchester Eagles and fell 71-18. The loss continues a trend for City University School of Liberal Arts in their matchups with Memphis School of Excellence Winchester: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite the loss, City University School of Liberal Arts still got an impressive performance from Amya Payne, who posted four points in addition to nine rebounds and three blocks. Payne has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Memphis School of Excellence Winchester to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ahmiya Thompson, who almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which Thompson has scored at least a third of Memphis School of Excellence Winchester's points. Another player making a difference was Tatianna Woods, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine steals.

City University School of Liberal Arts' defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Memphis School of Excellence Winchester, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-1.
