Recap: Sargent Farmers vs. Crested Butte Titans

If the Sargent Farmers were feeling good off their 52-30 takedown of the Center Vikings last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Sargent took a hard 62-47 fall against Crested Butte on Friday. Sargent has struggled against Crested Butte recently, as their contest on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Several Farmers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hayden Lester, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Lucas Garcia, who scored 11 points.

Crested Butte was led to victory by Riley Davis and Weston Miller. Davis scored 15 points along with two steals and two blocks, while Miller almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. Davis hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Porter Donahue, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and two steals.

Sargent's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Crested Butte, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sargent and Cotopaxi will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Cotopaxi is coming into the matchup with four straight defeats at home, meaning Sargent will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Crested Butte, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Trinidad at 5:30 p.m. on January 27th. Crested Butte is facing Trinidad at the right time seeing as Trinidad is stuck on a 11-game losing streak.
