Softball Preview: Weslaco Panthers vs. Edinburg North Cougars
A feisty cat fight will be fought as Weslaco Panthers challenge Edinburg North Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Edinburg North will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Weslaco extended their winning streak to nine on Tuesday. The Panthers blew past La Joya 19-2.
Meanwhile, Edinburg North got the win against Economedes on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-1. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Jaguars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Destany Bermudez was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Bermudez was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Caylee Ramirez was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Kyla Rodriguez was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
