Basketball Game Preview: Middle Tennessee Christian Cougars vs. Grace Christian Academy Lions

Middle Tennessee Christian is on a ten-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, Grace Christian Academy a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Middle Tennessee Christian Cougars face off against the Grace Christian Academy Lions at 7:30 p.m. The two teams are at an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but likely not for long.

Middle Tennessee Christian is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 56 points on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Providence Christian Academy on Thursday. They took a blow against the LIONS, falling 103-26. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, Grace Christian Academy fought the good fight in their overtime game against Columbia Academy last Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Bulldogs 72-66. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game two weeks ago (59), the Lions still had to take the loss.

Middle Tennessee Christian will have to keep a close watch on Ty Gibbs and Ford Deshazo, a pair of players who had a big impact on Grace Christian Academy's prior game. Gibbs went 9 of 15 en route to 20 points and seven rebounds, while Deshazo went 7 of 17 on his way to 16 points along with five boards and three blocks. Gibbs' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cutler Stephens, who posted ten points.

Even though they lost, Grace Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbia Academy only racked up eight assists.

Middle Tennessee Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Grace Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Middle Tennessee Christian came up short against Grace Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 62-53. Can Middle Tennessee Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
