Eagle Storylines

* On an experienced roster that features 10 seniors, Edwards is the catalyst for the Eagles. He was a MaxPreps Junior All-American and the Houston area player of the year in 2014-15, averaging over 23 points per game. His under-6-foot stature caused some high major programs to overlook his work at Atascocita, but Matt Painter did his homework and landed a gem.

* Atascocita has experienced a rapid rise on the Texas hoops scene. The school opened in the fall of 2006 but suffered three straight losing seasons before Martinez took over in in 2012. Since then, the Eagles are 84-25 with back-to-back appearances in the 6A regional finals.

* Atascocita opened the season Nov. 16 with an 81-73 win over Sam Houston, getting 22 points from Edwards and 18 more from new big man White.
