Softball Recap: Rock Island's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Rock Island barely beat Sherrard the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rocks blew past the Tigers 7-1 on Friday. Considering the Rocks have won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on A'Rion Lonergan, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Mallory Hudnall was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

The win was the fourth in a row for Rock Island, bringing their record up to 22-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Sherrard, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-9.

Rock Island is on the road again on Saturday to play Normal West at 11:00 a.m. As for Sherrard, they have already played their next game, a 2-1 win against Rockridge on the 23rd.
