Softball Recap: Highland Triumphs

Highland hadn't done well against Thunder Ridge recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Rams had just enough and edged out the Titans 11-10. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Reece Bybee was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Broadhead, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Highland lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Highland is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Thunder Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 15-6.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Highland is set to square off against their familiar foe Rigby at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Thunder Ridge will face off against rival Madison at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
