Linden has gone 9-1 against Bret Harte recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bullfrogs at 4:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Linden sitting on ten straight wins and Bret Harte on three.
Linden is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Big Valley Christian on Saturday as they made off with an 18-4 victory. Considering Linden has won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Marco Holguin and Matthew Schallberger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Holguin tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Schallberger didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Holguin went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Schallberger got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Holguin has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Linden got a massive performance out of Jake Daluz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits Daluz has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Braden Busalacchi, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Meanwhile, Bret Harte earned a 9-6 win over Calaveras on Saturday. That's two games straight that the Bullfrogs have won by exactly three runs.
Linden pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Bret Harte, their victory bumped their record up to 15-7.
Linden was able to grind out a solid win over Bret Harte in their previous matchup back in March, winning 3-0. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Bullfrogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
