Baseball Recap: Walsh Jesuit Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Walsh Jesuit can now relate to. They fell just short of the Anthony Wayne Generals by a score of 1-0 on Friday. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Generals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.

Shawn Sullivan was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Walsh Jesuit saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zach Swiderski, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Swiderski has hit this season.

Walsh Jesuit's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8-1. As for Anthony Wayne, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season.

Walsh Jesuit does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Anthony Wayne, they will challenge Steele at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Generals 2.5, the Comets 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
