Basketball Recap: Lame Deer Comes Up Short

Lame Deer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Shepherd Mustangs, falling 73-43. While losing is never fun, the Morning Stars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Montana basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 12th).

Lame Deer's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Shepherd, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lame Deer will face off against Colstrip at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Shepherd, they are taking a road trip to face off against Sweet Grass County at 4:00 p.m. on February 8th. Shepherd's defense has only allowed 29.2 points per game this season, so Sweet Grass County's offense will have their work cut out for them.
