Softball Recap: Moshannon Valley Wins Going Away Against Williamsburg

Moshannon Valley's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Williamsburg Blue Pirates with a sharp 21-0 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Black Knights/Damsels' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Annabeth Anderson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and four runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ava Robison was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Vereshack, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Moshannon Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Moshannon Valley's record is now 4-5. As for Williamsburg, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Looking ahead, Moshannon Valley will head out to square off against Tussey Mountain at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Williamsburg, they will venture away from home to face off against Fannett Metal at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
