Recap: Sharyland Rattlers vs. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders
The Sharyland Rattlers were the 44-25 winner over the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Sharyland received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 48-33 to Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North. Sharyland has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sharyland's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tristianni Cantu, who scored eight points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cantu has scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alexandra Gonzalez, who scored 12 points along with seven assists and four steals. Gonzalez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Josephine Sanchez, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Sharyland's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-12 record this season.
Sharyland will be playing at home against McAllen at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McAllen presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sharyland in Texas (McAllen is ranked 524th, while Sharyland is ranked 1196th). As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, they will head out on the road to face off against Valley View at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley View comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
