Baseball Game Preview: Highland Scots vs. Ridgeview Wolf Pack

For the second straight game, Highland will face off against Ridgeview. The Scots will welcome the Wolf Pack at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Highland has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Ridgeview will arrive with four straight wins.

On Monday, Highland came up short against Ridgeview and fell 4-1.

For Ridgeview's part, Martin Castro spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. The Wolf Pack are 6-1 when Castro allows two or fewer earned runs, but 9-10 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mason Refuerzo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrian Sanchez, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Highland's loss dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Ridgeview, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 15-11.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Highland has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ridgeview struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 strikeouts.
