Preview: Friendship Christian Commanders vs. Fayette Academy Vikings
The Friendship Christian Commanders will stay at home for another week and welcome the Fayette Academy Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Friendship Christian was fully in charge, breezing past King's Academy 49-7 at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-0.
Tyson Wolcott was his usual excellent self, rushing for 197 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. Wolcott hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for ten straight games. Another player making a difference was Luke Sellars, who rushed for eight yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Fayette Academy took their contest at home on Thursday with ease, bagging a 52-14 victory over Harding Academy. The victory was just what Fayette Academy needed coming off of a 58-31 loss in their prior contest.
It was another big night for Corbin Bowling, who rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 141 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of J brady Orr, who rushed for 49 yards and two touchdowns.
Fayette Academy's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. It was a group effort, with three guys contributing.
Their wins bumped Friendship Christian to 8-2 and Fayette Academy to 5-5.
Friday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Friendship Christian has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 282.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Fayette Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 264.9 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Friendship Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Fayette Academy in their previous meeting back in November of 2018, winning 14-7. Does Friendship Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fayette Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
