Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Caden Brandl and Owen Kurtenbach Lead Humphrey-Lindsay to Victory

Humphrey-Lindsay's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They managed a 49-45 win over the Madison Dragons. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Dragons, too.

Leading Humphrey-Lindsay to victory were Owen Kurtenbach and Caden Brandl. Kurtenbach went 9 for 18 on his way to 19 points and eight boards, while Brandl posted 11 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Gavin Groteluschen, who had six points and five rebounds.

Humphrey-Lindsay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Several Dragons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gabriel Campos, who earned ten points. Bodonn Sweeney was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Humphrey-Lindsay has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.4 points per game. As for Madison, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Humphrey-Lindsay wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 64-61 defeat against Bancroft-Rosalie on the 24th. As for Madison, they will host Pender on Monday.
