Basketball Recap: Lake Weir Comes Up Short

Lake Weir was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Dunnellon Tigers 65-12. The Hurricanes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-8.

Dunnellon found their leader in sophomore Tonyah Boggs, who dropped a triple-double on 23 points, ten assists, and 11 steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Boggs has scored all season. Shamyra Reid was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 13 boards.

Lake Weir's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Dunnellon, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Lake Weir will head out to square off against North Marion at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Dunnellon, they will be playing at home against P.K. Yonge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
