Basketball Game Preview: Columbus Christian Crusaders vs. Crothersville Tigers

Columbus Christian and Crothersville are an even 3-3 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Crusaders will head out to square off against the Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Columbus Christian will be strutting in after a win while Crothersville will be coming in after a defeat.

Columbus Christian is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Suburban Christian: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Columbus Christian blew Suburban Christian out of the water with a 50-14 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Columbus Christian had established a 35-point advantage.

Emma Murray continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 25 points and 21 boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in each of the last six games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Olivia Wise, who went 6-for-15 en route to 10 points in addition to seven steals and five boards.

Columbus Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Meanwhile, Crothersville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 45-35 to Southwestern. While the Tigers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Spartans 14-8 in the first quarter.

Columbus Christian's record is now 3-1. As for Crothersville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Columbus Christian couldn't quite finish off Crothersville in their previous meeting back in November of 2023 and fell 35-33. Can the Crusaders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
