Basketball Recap: Middletown Islanders vs. Prout Crusaders
Middletown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were beaten by the Prout Crusaders 51-21. The Islanders lost against the Crusaders in their previous head to head back in February of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 34-25 score last time.
Prout got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ella Martin out in front who posted ten points and three steals. Those ten points gave Martin a new career-high. Seneca Fielding was another key player, putting up six points in addition to eight boards and three steals.
Middletown's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Prout, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.
Coming up, Middletown will head out on the road to take on Cumberland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Prout, they will be playing at home against Central Falls/Blackstone Valley Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Prout's defense has only allowed 26 points per game this season, so Central Falls/Blackstone Valley Prep's offense will have their work cut out for them.
