Baseball Recap: Centennial Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sunrise Mountain, Centennial was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Ironwood Eagles an 11-0 shutout. Considering the Coyotes' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Blake Baehr made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Xavier Escontrias, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Noah Pozar, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Centennial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Centennial's record now sits at 7-11-2. As for Ironwood, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-7.

Centennial will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
