The Sunset Knights will face off against the Downtown Doral Dolphins at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sunset will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Sunset is returning to their home field after beating Braddock on theirs, despite the fact Braddock has dominated at home this season. The Knights came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 7-4 on Wednesday.
Sunset got a great performance from Joshua Perez as he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, Rafael Sosa was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Adrian Couce was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Downtown Doral came up short against South Dade on Wednesday, falling 12-6. The Dolphins haven't had much luck with the Buccaneers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Downtown Doral saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ichiro Horiike, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another was Madden Perez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
Sunset's victory bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Downtown Doral, their loss dropped their record down to 7-17.
Downtown Doral's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sunset hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. It's a different story for Downtown Doral, though, as they've only averaged .241. Will they be able to contain Sunset's hitters?
Everything went Sunset's way against Downtown Doral in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Sunset made off with a 7-1 win. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dolphins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
