Baseball Recap: Westview Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

Vista typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Westview proved too difficult a challenge. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers an 8-0 shutout. Considering the Wolverines have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Charles Jaskowiak made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Eli Irvine was incredible, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joseph Arango-Manley, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

Westview's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Vista, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7.

Westview will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
