Softball Recap: Wadley Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Wadley came into Monday's match having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 10-5 win over Winterboro on Monday. Wadley's offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last six games.

Payton Calhoun spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bentley Mulkey, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Kaleah Sheppard, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Mulkey wasn't the only one making solid contact: Wadley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-8. As for Winterboro, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.

Looking ahead, Wadley will square off against Saks at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Winterboro has already played their next contest (against Ragland), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
