Baseball Game Preview: Berkshire Badgers vs. Rootstown Rovers

The Berkshire Badgers will face off against the Rootstown Rovers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Things were looking good for Berkshire after they put the first run on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Geauga. The Badgers haven't had much luck with the Wolverines recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Patrick Brancel was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Rootstown has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.47 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They came up short against Lake, falling 12-2. The Rovers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Berkshire's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Rootstown, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

Berkshire couldn't quite finish off Rootstown in their previous meeting back in March of 2015 and fell 3-1. Can the Badgers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
