Recap: Thomas Stone Cougars vs. McDonough Rams

It was a good run, but the Thomas Stone Cougars unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 57-56 to McDonough. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

When it comes to explaining why Thomas Stone lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ty Woodland. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Woodland hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. Jonas Agyeman was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six assists.

McDonough's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isaiah Belfield, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three blocks. That's the first time this season that Belfield posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Tyrik Petway, who scored 16 points along with five assists.

Thomas Stone's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4. As for McDonough, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2.

Thomas Stone will face off against Huntingtown at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Huntingtown is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for McDonough, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chopticon at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Chopticon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Friday.
