Volleyball Recap: Stevens Point Extends Winning Streak to Three

Stevens Point had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Newman Fighting Cardinals. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Fighting Cardinals, too.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Stevens Point who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-20, 23-25, 15-10.

Nora Kruger paced Stevens Point's offense, picking up nine kills. Kruger got some help from Katie Kornowski and her 26 assists. Finally, Leah Awe kept Stevens Point's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Stevens Point's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Newman, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Stevens Point will play host again on Tuesday to welcome De Pere, where the match is scheduled at 3:00 p.m. As for Newman, they will be taking part in a tournament against Marshfield at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
