Baseball Game Preview: Sterling Heights Stevenson Titans vs. Edison Academy Pioneers

The Sterling Heights Stevenson Titans will square off against the Edison Academy Pioneers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Sterling Heights Stevenson 4, Edison Academy 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Sterling Heights Stevenson turned things around against Troy on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Colts.

Sterling Heights Stevenson got a great performance from Will Idyle as he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

On the hitting side, Jake Leonard was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Brett Leonard was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Edison Academy waltzed into their contest on Saturday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. Everything went their way against the Raiders as they made off with a 14-1 win. Considering the Pioneers have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Edison Academy's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Sterling Heights Stevenson, their victory bumped their record up to 20-11.

Sterling Heights Stevenson came out on top in a nail-biter against Edison Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pioneers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
