Baseball Recap: Dunlap Now 11-1 over Last 12 Games

Dunlap lost to Geneseo back in May of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Maple Leafs with a sharp 13-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Landon Gray looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Davis Weeks, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Gibbs, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Dunlap is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Geneseo, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-12.

Coming up, Dunlap will welcome Rock Island at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rocks will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Geneseo, they will challenge Pleasant Plains at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
