Softball Game Preview: River City Raiders vs. Wood Wildcats

The River City Raiders will take on the Wood Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. River City has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

River City is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Vacaville, falling 25-3.

Emily Sauceda made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily San Jose, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wood). They blew past Sacramento 24-1 on Tuesday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by ten runs or more this season.

Wood got a massive performance out of Aubrey Redline, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Redline a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Rivera, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Wood hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive games.

Wood's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-5. As for River City, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13.

Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. River City hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Wood struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
