West Central dropped their record down to 9-5 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Tri-County Cavaliers by a score of 8-7. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing 6-4 to the Cavaliers when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Kailee Bishop made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Sydney Mellon was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
As for Tri-County, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games.
On Tri-County's side, Madilyn Nevitt was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. Nevitt has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, Grace Luck was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Grace Tyler, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
West Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 7-5 victory against South Newton on the 5th. As for Tri-County, they have also already played their next game, an 18-2 win against Faith Christian on the 3rd.
