Softball Recap: Montevideo Comes Up Short

Montevideo had lost 15 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-11 to make it 16. They came up short against the Redwood Valley Cardinals, falling 21-10. That's two games in a row now that the Thunderhawks have lost by exactly 11 runs.

As for Redwood Valley, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-7 record. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Redwood Valley's part, the team relied heavily on Grace Blare, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Ava Meier, who went 4-for-6 with three RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Montevideo will take on Minnewaska Area at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Redwood Valley, they will square off against Fairmont at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Fairmont's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Redwood Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
