Softball Recap: Bacon Academy Takes a Loss

Bacon Academy and Waterford pushed the score to 24-1 the last time they played Waterford, but on Tuesday defenses reigned supreme. The Bobcats fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 1-0. The Bobcats haven't had much luck with the Lancers recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Riley Stolzman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

Bacon Academy now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Waterford, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1.

Coming up, Bacon Academy will square off against RHAM at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raptors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.57 runs per game on average), something the Bobcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Waterford, they will take on Montville at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
